China will add 11.5 million tons/year PTA capacity in 2012

According to the ICIS data, Asia's PTA production capacity will increase by 26% in 2012 and 13% in 2011. In 2012, new PTA production capacity in Asia will be concentrated in China. It will add 11.5 million tons/year of PTA production capacity, including six new installations and a bottleneck transformation of one installation. At present, the existing PTA production capacity in Asia is 43.7 million tons/year.

Zhejiang Far East Petrochemical Co., Ltd. will open the prelude to the 2012 China PTA expansion. The company’s new 1.4 million tonne/year No. 4 PTA unit in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, is scheduled to be put into production in early March, when the company's total PTA capacity will reach 3.2 million tons per year.

BP Zhuhai will complete the debottlenecking of a 900,000-ton/year No. 2 PTA plant in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province in January and will add 200,000 tons/year of capacity. By then, BP Zhuhai's PTA production capacity in China will reach 1.6 million tons/year, while BP's global PTA production capacity will reach 7.45 million tons/year.

Tongxin Group's Jiaxing Petrochemical Company plans to open a new 1.5 million-ton/year PTA plant in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province in the second quarter.

Zhejiang Yisheng Petrochemical Company plans to open another set of 2 million tons/year new PTA plant in Hainan from July to August. By then, the company will have a PTA production capacity of 7.5 million tons/year, thus becoming the world's largest PTA producer.

Xianglu Petrochemical will open a new 2 million tons/year PTA plant in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province in the third quarter. By then, the company's total PTA production capacity will reach 3.65 million tons/year, making it the second largest PTA in China after Yisheng Petrochemical. manufacturer. At present, the company owns a set of 1.65 million tons of PTA per year in Xiamen, Fujian Province.

Hengli Group plans to open two new PTA installations in Dalian City, Liaoning Province in the third quarter, with a total capacity of 4.4 million tons/year, of which the first will be put into operation in July and the second will be put into operation from September to October.
