New York reported on September 5 that Indalex, the US aluminum extrusion company, is expected to increase production capacity by 50 million pounds to 850 million pounds per year over the next two years. Tim Stubbs, president and chief executive officer of Eagle Capital, said that since 2000, the Eagles have closed 4 extrusion plants, but their production capacity has increased by 50 million pounds. Stubbs has said that the Eagles also plan to close two or three extrusion plants in the future. Stubbs did not indicate the location of the closed extrusion plant, but it stated that the total capacity of the three extrusion plants was approximately 40 million pounds per year. According to Stubbs, the United States has made little progress in squeezing the productivity of the industry in the past five years, while Europe’s squeezing productivity has increased by 40%, and productivity growth has even reached 200% in parts of Asia. Yingdu’s shipments in the second quarter soared by 16% year-on-year, but Stubbs is cautious about the construction market in the second half of 2006 and expects Yingdu’s shipments to increase by about 7 to 8% year-on-year in the second half of the year. Yingdu’s planned aluminum extrusion product shipment in 2006 was 700 million pounds per year. Eagle has two casting workshops, 16 extrusion plants, 40 extrusion machines, 9 electrophoretic paint production lines and 5 anodizing production lines in North America.
