On November 4, the Key Technology Research and Demonstration of Fuel Replacement in Kilns for Biomass Replacement Industry, which was undertaken by the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Sources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was a key technology project in the strategic emerging industries of Guangdong Province. The acceptance meeting was organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The head of the acceptance expert group was chaired by Wu Shubin, a professor from South China University of Technology. The members of the expert group include South China Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Technology, Guangzhou Chemical Co., Ltd. of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Electric Power Research Institute of Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd. 4 A peer expert. Li Haibin, deputy director of the Guangzhou Energy Institute, and project team members attended the acceptance meeting. At the acceptance meeting, project leader Wu Chuangzhi reported on the completion of the project and the results achieved. The acceptance group consulted relevant data and conducted inquiries. Finally, the expert group fully affirmed the scientific research results obtained by the project, and concluded that the project successfully completed the research tasks and objectives as stipulated in the contract, and standardized the use of funds. The expert group unanimously agreed to pass the acceptance. The project was formally launched in 2013. It includes large-scale biomass low-tar oil-gasification equipment, high-temperature biomass gas ash removal and transportation technology, low calorific value biomass gas-fired thermal storage combustion equipment, and biomass gasification system and industrial furnace coupling control. A series of studies have been carried out. A total of seven industrial kilns were used to use biomass energy demonstration projects, including 23 large-scale biomass low-carbon oil-gasification units, and the biomass utilization scale exceeded 180,000 tons/year. The project has realized the goal of replacing biomass furnaces/boilers with fossil fuels by large-scale biomass, reducing pollution emissions, and proposing new ideas for energy-saving and emission-reduction in relevant industries. It has also made important contributions to the province in fulfilling the national goal of energy-saving emission reduction.
