Classification of combustion performance of exterior wall insulation materials

China's national standard GB8624-97 divides the combustion performance of building materials into the following grades:

1. Class A: Non-combustible building materials: Materials that hardly burn.

2, B1 level: flame retardant building materials: flame retardant materials have a good flame retardant effect. It is difficult to catch fire when exposed to fire in the air or under high temperature, and it is not easy to spread quickly, and the combustion stops immediately after the fire source is removed.

3, B2 level: flammable building materials: flammable materials have a certain flame retardant effect. In the air, when exposed to fire or under high temperature, it will immediately ignite and burn, which may lead to the spread of fire, such as wooden columns, wooden trusses, wooden beams, wooden stairs, etc.

4, B3 level: flammable building materials: no flame retardant effect, very easy to burn, the fire risk is great.

Materials for external wall insulation according to fire rating:

1. Insulation materials with combustion performance of Class A: rock wool, glass wool, foam glass, foam ceramics, foamed cement, closed-cell perlite, etc.

2. Insulation material with B1 grade combustion performance: extruded polystyrene board (XPS) after special treatment/polyurethane (PU), phenolic, rubber powder, polyphenylene, etc.

3. Insulation materials with B2 grade combustion properties: molded polystyrene board (EPS), extruded polystyrene board (XPS), polyurethane (PU), polyethylene (PE), etc.
